Bill O’Reilly Angers Black America

O’Reilly’s attack on Dr. Boyce Watkins provokes outrage and protest against FOX

Racism may be on its way out, but the last bastion of ignorance and white supremacy continues to raise its ugly head in the mass media, for which FOX News has been partisan and chief culprit.

Recently, Bill O’Reilly went after African-American scholar and commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins of Syracuse University. In early May, Dr. Watkins denounced O’Reilly as one of the “Axis of Ignorance” who continually stokes the pyres of racism in the media, along with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

Their endless wave of “social terrorism” against people of color did not begin and end with presidential candidate Barack Obama or Jeremiah Wright. Last year, Blogger dnA of Too Sense exposed his latent racist slurs against African-Americans after O'Reilly visited a black restaurant in Harlem during the time of the Jena 6 protest and made the comment: "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was -- it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all."

The blogger noted: Until now, Bill O'Reilly has probably never been in a room full of black people in his entire life. Yet black culture is a subject on which he comments endlessly, as though he actually had any frame of reference beyond what he has seen in popular entertainment. The man has even admitted that he's "scared of having black friends," but he is not apparently, scared of pontificating forever about people he's never spent five minutes around outside of a newsroom.

After O’Reilly’s pandering to Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferrora, and promising the latter that if anybody gave her a hard time about her racist comments about Barack Obama, just let him (Bill O’Reilly) know and he would retaliate.

In face of all this, Boyce Watkins called O’Reilly, and his Axis allies, to account for their comments against black people. In response, O’Reilly went to Syracuse University and chased down Chancellor Cantor, in an attempt to hold her responsible for not keeping Dr. Watkins silent, or at least to put his tenure at the university in jeopardy.

Now the African-American professor is fighting back by calling for FOX sponsor of The O’Reilly Factor to pull their advertising.

Commentary:

There can be no two winners here. Either we bring an end to racism now and forever, or the Axis of Ignorance will continue rule the airways in America.

You can help put an end to this madness. Call, write, or fax:

  1. If this boycott was to be taken seriously, we'd first need more extensive coverage and blogging on the matter in order that this act reach the people, i.e, such as the case of the Jena Six, Imus matter, and etc. There have been other unsuccessful attempts in the past to boycott fox news, but these actions fail to reach the majority who remain disgruntled with their bias reporting.
